Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor Steps Down from Albert Ojwang’s Autopsy Over Family Ties

(Photo courtesy)  Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor has officially withdrawn from carrying out the post-mortem examination on Albert Ojwang, which was scheduled for today. Dr Oduor stated that he will not be involved in the autopsy because the late Albert Ojwang belongs to his extended family.  Due to this close family connection, he explained that it would not be professional or appropriate for him to proceed with the examination. This sudden development was revealed today, causing a delay in the planned autopsy.  The family of the deceased, along with authorities, will now have to arrange for another qualified pathologist to conduct the post-mortem. Dr Oduor has served in many high-profile cases in Kenya and is widely respected in his field.  His decision to step aside is seen as a move to avoid conflict of interest and to maintain transparency in the investigation. Emotions Run High as Kenyans Mourn Albert Ojwang at City Mortuary

Tears flowed freely at City Mortuary in Nairobi as scores of Kenyans gathered around the lifeless body of digital content creator Albert Ojwang.  The crowd, gripped by pain and anger, broke into the National Anthem, creating an emotional scene that left many in silence. Ojwang was arrested on Saturday in Homa Bay and later transferred to Central Police Station in Nairobi over alleged defamation of Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat.  By Sunday morning, he was reportedly found unconscious in his cell and rushed to Mbagathi Hospital, where he was declared dead. But the family is not convinced by the police version.  A postmortem conducted on Monday revealed disturbing injuries—swelling on the head, bruises on the nose and ears, blood in the mouth and nostrils, and wounds on his hands and shoulders—raising suspicions of torture.
