Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor has officially withdrawn from carrying out the post-mortem examination on Albert Ojwang, which was scheduled for today.
Dr Oduor stated that he will not be involved in the autopsy because the late Albert Ojwang belongs to his extended family.
Due to this close family connection, he explained that it would not be professional or appropriate for him to proceed with the examination.
This sudden development was revealed today, causing a delay in the planned autopsy.
The family of the deceased, along with authorities, will now have to arrange for another qualified pathologist to conduct the post-mortem.
Dr Oduor has served in many high-profile cases in Kenya and is widely respected in his field.
His decision to step aside is seen as a move to avoid conflict of interest and to maintain transparency in the investigation.
Albert Ojwang’s death has drawn public interest, and the results of the autopsy are expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding his passing.
However, with Dr Oduor stepping away, the process will take longer than expected.
The family of Ojwang has not yet commented publicly on Dr Oduor’s decision, but sources close to them say they understand his reasons and are now focusing on ensuring the post-mortem continues smoothly with another trusted expert.
Authorities have confirmed that arrangements are already being made to find another independent pathologist to handle the matter without delay.
Further updates will be shared as soon as a new pathologist is confirmed and the post-mortem examination proceeds.
