“You took an innocent man from his dad only to kill him” — Babu Owino Blames DIG Eliud Langat for Albert Ojwang’s Death

(Photo Courtesy: Embakasi East MP Babu Owino)  Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has publicly blamed Deputy Inspector General Eliud Langat for the death of 31-year-old Albert Ojwang, who died while in police custody.  According to Owino, Albert was innocent and should not have been arrested in the first place. Albert was taken by police in Homa Bay on 7th June 2025 after he allegedly posted false information about a senior police officer online.  He was then transported to Nairobi, nearly 400 kilometres away. Days later, Albert was found dead at Central Police Station. Police claimed that Albert died after hitting his head on a wall inside the cell.  But Babu Owino strongly disagreed with that explanation.  He believes Albert was murdered and has demanded that DIG Eliud Langat and others involved be arrested and charged with murder. “You took an innocent man from his dad only to kill him. Kisii Blogger Kelvin Moinde Freed After Accusations by Deputy IG Eliud Lagat

(photo courtesy)  The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has announced the release of Kisii-based blogger Kelvin Moinde.  He had been arrested over the weekend for allegedly publishing false information on social media. Moinde was taken into custody in Kisii on Saturday, 7 June 2025, and moved to Kamukunji Police Station in Nairobi.  Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested him, claiming he had made negative posts about Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eliud Lagat. However, on Monday, 9 June 2025, the ODPP said on their official X account that there wasn’t enough evidence to charge Moinde.  DPP Renson Igonga reviewed the investigation file and found no valid reason to proceed with a case against him. Interestingly, Moinde’s arrest came on the same day as that of Albert Ojwang, another social media figure.
