Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has publicly blamed Deputy Inspector General Eliud Langat for the death of 31-year-old Albert Ojwang, who died while in police custody.

According to Owino, Albert was innocent and should not have been arrested in the first place.

Albert was taken by police in Homa Bay on 7th June 2025 after he allegedly posted false information about a senior police officer online.

He was then transported to Nairobi, nearly 400 kilometres away. Days later, Albert was found dead at Central Police Station.

Police claimed that Albert died after hitting his head on a wall inside the cell.

But Babu Owino strongly disagreed with that explanation.

He believes Albert was murdered and has demanded that DIG Eliud Langat and others involved be arrested and charged with murder.

“You took an innocent man from his dad only to kill him. Shame on you!” Owino said in a statement shared online.

He accused the police of using their power to silence a young man who had done nothing wrong.

Owino promised to stand with Albert’s family and push for justice. He urged the public not to remain silent, saying that those in power must be held accountable for their actions.

The MP’s strong words have sparked a public outcry, with many Kenyans supporting his call for justice.

Babu Owino has vowed not to rest until the truth comes out and those responsible face the law.

His message is clear: Albert’s death will not be ignored, and justice must be served.
