Egerton Lecturer Shoots Lawyer Dead in Shocking Parking Row

A simple disagreement over a parking spot turned deadly in Narok, shattering families and stirring public outrage. A university lecturer pulled the trigger that ended the life of a respected lawyer and father of two.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night when Dr Paul Sena Kanyike, a lecturer at Egerton University and licensed civilian gun holder, fatally shot Mandela Nabala, a well-known advocate. According to a police report, the confrontation escalated after both men laid claim to a parking slot. Witnesses say tempers flared before Dr Sena drew his Glock pistol and fired a single shot into Nabala’s chin.

Nabala was rushed to the Narok County Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. A circulating image shows his grieving widow clutching their two children, the youngest barely able to understand the magnitude of the tragedy.

Colleagues have described Nabala as a brilliant legal mind known for his humility and calm. “He didn’t deserve this,” a fellow lawyer lamented. “He always sought peace, even in conflict.”

Authorities confirmed that Dr Sena has been detained as investigations begin. Narok County Police Commander Samuel Ndolo stated that the firearm used has been secured as evidence and the suspect will be arraigned once initial inquiries are complete. Egerton University, meanwhile, has yet to issue a formal statement on the incident.

The shooting has reignited debate over gun control and the rising tension among licensed firearm holders. The Law Society of Kenya is calling for an independent probe, citing concerns of misuse of civilian firearms.

As the legal process unfolds, questions remain. Why did a minor dispute escalate to such fatal violence? And how did a trained academic choose a bullet over reason in a moment of anger?
