A popular social media influencer, Kelvin Moinde, has allegedly been arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for posting content online that criticised Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Eliud Langat.

Moinde, known for his bold views on social media, was allegedly picked up in Kisii by plain-clothed DCI officers.

According to Nyakundi update, he was taken away quietly without being shown any arrest warrant. His family was not informed about his whereabouts.

He was later traced to Kamukunji Police Station in Nairobi, hours after his sudden disappearance.

The secretive way in which he was taken has raised alarm, with many Kenyans describing it as an abduction rather than a lawful arrest.

This incident adds to growing fears of alleged abductions targeting government critics.

Civil rights groups and concerned citizens say this is not an isolated case, and claim there is a pattern of influencers and bloggers being secretly picked up for their opinions.

Reports suggest Kelvin is now being held without access to his lawyer or family.

Human rights activists have strongly condemned the incident, calling it a violation of his rights and freedom of expression.

Kelvin’s case follows other recent incidents where individuals were allegedly arrested under unclear circumstances after criticising DIG Langat. Many believe the police are using illegal methods to silence dissent.

The National Police Service has not commented on the alleged arrest.

Meanwhile, Kenyans online are using trending hashtags to demand the release of Moinde and other individuals who have allegedly been abducted for expressing their views.

As of now, Kelvin Moinde is allegedly still being held at Kamukunji Police Station, with no official explanation given.
