“Umekuja Sana” Seething Kindiki Responds After Gachagua's Bold US Declaration

Tension is rising across Kenya’s political scene as Kithure Kindiki, now Deputy President, fired back at a controversial statement made by his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua during his ongoing US visit.

While speaking to diaspora media on 18 July 2025, Gachagua accused the Kenyan government of orchestrating his downfall and manipulating legal systems to silence him. He claimed his impeachment was a result of “deep state betrayal” and warned that the same forces are now targeting other leaders perceived as disloyal to President Ruto. Gachagua’s remarks triggered sharp reactions online, with his allies backing him and government insiders keeping silent—until now.

Kindiki, visibly irritated, responded on Sunday during a public event in Mombasa. “Umekuja sana—stop acting like you’re still in charge,” he snapped. Though he didn’t mention Gachagua by name, Kindiki warned that those who had been voted out or impeached should accept reality instead of peddling conspiracy theories abroad. His tone suggested that the former DP’s growing activism could become a source of diplomatic and political friction.

Gachagua and his wife Dorcas are expected to remain in the US for nearly two months, meeting diaspora communities and engaging media houses. His recent appearances, however, have turned political, with more criticism aimed at State House and accusations of persecution.

No official statement has come from President Ruto or State House operatives regarding Gachagua’s claims. Political observers say Kindiki’s public frustration may signal an internal attempt to contain growing sympathy for Gachagua within UDA’s grassroots base.

As the two men’s feud plays out across continents, the question remains: is Gachagua laying the groundwork for a comeback—or just burning every bridge left behind?
