Tension Rises as Assassins Allegedly Sent to Eliminate Gachagua in US Are Exposed

A chilling shadow has fallen over former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s stay in the United States. From Boston, Gachagua claims he is the target of a state-sponsored assassination plot—a move he says is designed to silence his political dissent.

In a letter dated April 15, 2025, and addressed to Inspector General Douglas Kanja, Gachagua alleged that a secret Kenyan team had deployed operatives to poison him while abroad. He warned that the assassins intend to use slow-acting toxins hidden in his food and drink. The politician urged both Kenyan and U.S. authorities to step in swiftly and guarantee his safety.

Gachagua linked the threat directly to his recent outbursts against President William Ruto’s administration. He said the plot was being executed by a specially trained elite squad whose objective is to cause his “slow strangulation through poison.” While he has not released evidence, Gachagua insisted the threat was credible and active.

Back in Nairobi, the government has remained largely silent on the Boston developments. In May, State House had dismissed similar claims as political theatrics, with one senior minister calling them “irresponsible” and likely to stoke unrest. The silence now only deepens public curiosity and concern.

The allegations have split opinion sharply. Some Kenyans view Gachagua as a victim of an oppressive regime, while others suspect he may be manufacturing drama to regain political traction. Dr. Mary Wanjiku, a governance expert, called for transparency, warning that the issue, if mismanaged, could escalate tensions locally and abroad.

Gachagua, meanwhile, has vowed to remain in Boston until U.S. security agencies confirm his protection. With no official response yet from the U.S. embassy, and no fresh comment from Kenyan authorities, many wonder whether this is an unfolding crisis—or a desperate political gamble.
