Sunday Headlines: Kindiki Predicts Maasai Shift to Ruto as ODM Faces New Storm

A silent political tide may be rising in Maasai land—one Deputy President Kithure Kindiki claims will sweep President Ruto back to power in 2027. But beneath the cheers in Kajiado, fresh waves of tension stir across Kenya’s political landscape.

While addressing locals on Saturday, Kindiki boldly declared the Maasai community would vote en masse for the Kenya Kwanza coalition, citing the defection of Kajiado Central MP Memusi Kanchory from ODM to UDA. Kindiki painted the move as a signpost of UDA’s growing grip on the region. “This is just the beginning. The Maasai people know who stands with them,” he said.

At the same time, IEBC came out guns blazing against viral TikTok claims that it had received 60 recall petitions targeting Members of Parliament. The Commission dismissed the claims as “false and misleading,” urging Kenyans to rely only on verified updates shared via its official channels.

Meanwhile, ODM’s Edwin Sifuna made an urgent plea to young voters at Chungwa House, where he challenged youth leaders to drive the next electoral wave. “This nation belongs to you. Take charge by registering as voters,” he told the group dubbed the Young Captains.

Elsewhere, lawyer Mugambi Imanyara threw his weight behind impeached Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, blaming her ouster on political isolation as an independent. Speaking at the launch of her new Umoja na Maendeleo Party, Imanyara expressed confidence she would reclaim the seat in 2027.

As politicians jostle for 2027 realignments and battle narratives on social media, Kenyans are left to question—what forces are quietly shaping the next big turn in Kenya’s politics? And who, truly, is holding the strings behind the scenes?
