A high-stakes courtroom twist has rocked Juja constituency, with MP George Koimburi now facing serious charges of orchestrating his own abduction to evade justice. The MP was freed on a KSh 300,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty before Milimani Law Courts.
Appearing on Wednesday, July 23, Koimburi was formally charged after presenting himself days after an arrest warrant had been issued. The prosecution, led by Victor Owiti and Nora Achieng, told the court that the lawmaker’s dramatic disappearance was a calculated attempt to dodge four pending land fraud cases at the Kiambu Law Courts. According to the ODPP, the abduction stunt was executed in Mugutha, Juja Sub-County, on May 25, 2025.
Koimburi, a known ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, is also accused of publishing false information. This stems from a press statement he delivered via YouTube from Karen Hospital on June 7, in which he alleged to have been kidnapped and tortured by unidentified assailants
