Kindiki Warns Kalonzo Over Lies After Alliance Rejection

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has fired back at Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka after Kalonzo publicly rejected working with the government and made strong accusations during a church service on Sunday.

In a post on his official X account, Kindiki said he respects Kalonzo’s choice to stay out of government but warned him against spreading what he termed as “falsehoods.”

“I hear my big brother Kalonzo has said he doesn’t wish to work with me politically. That is fine with me,” Kindiki said. “But if he continues with his falsehoods unprovoked, I will happily tackle him head on.”

Despite the sharp warning, Kindiki added that he holds Kalonzo in high regard and wouldn’t engage in public exchanges out of respect.

“For the unkind things he has said about me, I won’t answer him back publicly—not because I can’t, but because I never do public duels with people I respect,” he added.

Kalonzo had earlier accused Kindiki of being involved in state brutality, especially during the deadly Gen Z protests.

He also linked Kindiki to the recent killing of blogger Albert Ojwang, claiming Kindiki, as Deputy President and former Interior CS, should have taken responsibility.

“You should have apologised to Kenyans because you were the Interior Minister when Gen Zs were killed,” Kalonzo said. “Then also apologise for Albert Ojwang’s killing.”

He further ruled out working with President William Ruto and confirmed his intention to run for president in 2027. “Stop using my name. Even Ruto knows that if there is a tough opponent who will face him in the next election, it is Kalonzo Musyoka,” he declared.

Kalonzo also stated he will join hands with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to form a strong opposition against the current government.

The fallout comes days after Kindiki praised Kalonzo at a Kitui event, calling him a “respectable leader” who has been misled by ethnic-based politics.
