Influencer Albert Ojwang Dies in Police Custody After Plainclothes Arrest — Father Demands Justice

Albert Ojwang was a respected teacher and outspoken political commentator on social media platform X. 

Based in Voi, Albert became known for fearlessly addressing political issues and had earned a large online following. 

His influence made him a popular figure, especially among the youth who admired his courage in speaking out.


Why Was He Arrested?

On Saturday, 7 June 2025, Albert was arrested in Migori while visiting his family. 

According to his father, the arrest was carried out by men in plain clothes. 

When questioned, the officers reportedly said Albert had “insulted their boss” on social media.

No official warrant was shown, and no proper explanation was provided at the scene. His father was simply told to follow them to the police station if he wanted to know more.


Where Was He Taken?

After the sudden arrest, Albert was transported from Migori to Nairobi, a journey of several hundred kilometres.

 He was taken to Central Police Station, where he was booked and detained. 

The exact charges against him were not clearly stated, raising further concerns about the legality of his arrest and detention.


How Did He Die?

Just hours after his arrest, disturbing reports surfaced that Albert had sustained serious head injuries while in custody.

 Police claimed the injuries were self-inflicted and suggested that he had attempted to take his own life. 

However, this explanation has been strongly questioned by many people online, including legal experts and fellow influencers.



What Did His Father Say?

Albert’s father travelled to Nairobi immediately after hearing of his son’s arrest. Upon arrival at the station, he was informed that Albert had died.

 He expressed shock and confusion, questioning how a healthy young man could die within hours of being arrested. 

The family has demanded a clear and honest explanation of what happened while Albert was in police custody.


What’s the Public Saying?

Lawyer Paul Muite confirmed Albert’s death on X and criticised the police version of events. 

He accused the government of covering up an extra-judicial killing and promised that those responsible would be held accountable. 

The public has also expressed outrage and is calling for justice and transparency in the ongoing investigation.

Good News for Kenyans Yet to File Returns as KRA Extends Working Hours, Here Is New Working Hours

According to a notice released on Tuesday, 20th May 2025, KRA stated that all main service centres and selected Huduma Centres will now operate for 12 hours on weekdays, opening from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.  This move is aimed at making the tax return process easier for millions of Kenyans who are yet to file.
