Claims that police are protecting the real killers behind the death of blogger Albert Ojwang’ have sparked a fresh wave of public anger on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter).

Many Kenyans are now accusing the police of targeting innocent officers while shielding those truly responsible for the young man's death.

This outrage follows recent reports that three inmates—Gin Abwao, Collins Ireri, and Brian Mwaniki—are being held responsible for torturing Ojwang’ to death inside Central Police Station.

However, users on X argue that this could be a cover-up meant to derail investigations and shift focus away from the officers who were on duty during the incident.

The trending hashtag #JusticeForAlbertOjwang has seen hundreds of posts from Kenyans demanding accountability and transparency.

Some have pointed out the inconsistencies in the official reports, questioning how inmates were able to carry out such an act without the knowledge or involvement of police officers.

“What we’re witnessing is a well-coordinated effort to protect the killers. How do you explain torture happening inside a police station without officer involvement?” one user posted.

Others claimed that senior officers could be involved in a plot to frustrate the ongoing probe, adding that police statements appear selective and scripted.

“We won’t allow them to use innocent scapegoats while the real murderers walk free,” another comment read.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has been urged to step in and conduct fresh investigations, with calls growing louder for an independent autopsy and access to CCTV footage from the station.

Albert Ojwang’, a known online activist, was arrested and detained under unclear circumstances before reports emerged of his death in custody. The case has since attracted national attention, with human rights groups now demanding full accountability from the police service.

As pressure mounts, many Kenyans continue to demand answers—not just arrests, but the right arrests.
